InDance began projects from 2016 and is established from 2023 as a non-for-profit Association to expand the needs of Dancers, Artists, Managers and more transitioning into the Professional Sector of the Performing Arts, Contemporary Dance, Media and Theatre.

Since its development it has provided over 201 performances world wide and continues to defend the needs of Dancers seeking to expand their Skills, Knowledge and Dance Experience.

Based in Barcelona, Catalunya the Association operates internationally to ensure that each dancer can experience and promote their skills to new audiences.

We organise residencies, workshops, summer activities and performances on Contemporary Dance with previous support from Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (Catalan Institute of Cultural Companies).

We are a diverse community with artists from the Caribbean, Africa, United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Central America, Brazil, Europe and Canada. We are deeply rooted in a diverse global community and welcome all nationalities. Our values are artistic development and freedom of expression in dance, and to present new dance works to expose audiences to experimentation and emerging dance creators.

InDance International is a member of the IETM-International Network for Contemporary Performing Arts, an organization whose objective is to promote the development of performing arts in a global environment and to value the role of performing arts as an essential base of social, cultural and economic development. Its mission is to facilitate the creation of professional opportunities and education for the transfer of knowledge among all the agents of performing arts at an international level.

IETM integrates more than 500 organizations from 50 countries around the world, especially in Europe.

InDance International exists to make dance a language of empowerment, connection, and expression for women of every age, background, and training level. Founded in Spain and now working across three continents, the organization believes that access to the performing arts should not be a privilege reserved for the few, but a right extended to women wherever they are, whatever resources they start with. At its core, InDance is built on the conviction that when women are given serious artistic training, a platform to be seen, and a community that values their voice, they carry that strength far beyond the studio.

This mission is rooted in a simple but demanding idea: female artistry deserves rigor, not charity. InDance does not treat its programs as outreach in the diluted sense. Its dance vocational training tracks, its technique-focused and performance-based programmes, and its youth and adult education initiatives are designed with the same seriousness as any professional conservatory pathway, while remaining open to women who may never have set foot in a formal dance space before. The organization’s work spans vocational education and training (VET), adult education, youth activities, cultural media production, and community-based education, reflecting a belief that empowerment through dance happens on many fronts at once, in the studio, on stage, on screen, and within the wider community.

InDance’s international character is central to its mission, not incidental to it. This is deliberate: InDance sees mentorship and artistic growth as reciprocal, with dancers from different continents shaping each other’s practice rather than one side simply receiving instruction from the other. Cultural media activities: filmmaking, AI and AR-assisted performance documentation, extend this exchange further, allowing the work created in one location to be shared, studied, and built upon in another.

Underlying all of this is a commitment to equality and inclusion within the performing arts sector itself, an industry that has historically been slow to open real pathways for women, particularly women from under-resourced regions. InDance positions itself as an active correction to that imbalance: creating vocational routes into professional dance, documenting and promoting good practice, and building a network of women artists, educators, and choreographers who support one another’s development.

Ultimately, InDance International’s mission is to prove that serious artistic and educational training with genuine empowerment are not separate goals. Through structured technique programmes, international residencies, choreographic research, and community-rooted education, the organization aims to give women the tools, training, and stage presence to define their own artistic futures in Barcelona and in every community InDance reaches.
