Tapestry, Music and Dance Collaboration:

InDance International is a organization in collaboration with Byron’s Library Barcelona. The one year professional Performance Program is accredited by CID International, Paris Europe and InDance International are supported by European Union from 2024-2026 on Equality in the Arts.

InDance International presents a series of 7 solos, which seeks to transform the artistic development and lives of women, to strengthen their connections in contemporary dance through academic, creative and psychological support, to allow for them to improve the artistic quality of their development and to grow as agents of change in the Performing Arts, Europe.

The professional development program focuses on continuing education with the creation of new and innovative dance performances from Solo Dance Performances to Group dance works, commissioned by Director Harriet Macauley, England and Spain.

Through training in dance, choreography, film, and interdisciplinary experimentation, the scope of the organization aims to sophisticate the local dance scene through performances in Barcelona, England and Europe to increase opportunities for productive inclusion within the Creative and Cultural Industries, using training cycles from a 21st century skill development and technical capacities in the contemporary field.

Tapestry is a new intervention in solo dance performance, and a period of crucial solo investigation for InDance International. We want to build links within Barcelona City and the dance Sector by performing in non-conventional spaces. More fundamental is a shedding of light on the passion and focus for dancers to use their bodies as a voice of expression, whilst delving into the thoughts of women who are living in Barcelona and seeking equality, to better experience the powerful energy of creativity as a professional occupation.

Venue:
Byron’s library is the work and hopes of the team at the Huygens publishing house, determined to create a new space for culture in Barcelona city after 14 years of publishing work. And despite the adversities, in 2020, they united this multidisciplinary group of people, including publishers, booksellers, writers, designers and managers. Named after the British poet Lord Byron (1788-1824) The most flamboyant and notorious of the major Romantics, George Gordon, Lord Byron, was likewise the most fashionable poet of his day. The Library is a space of pure creativity and acceptance of all arts to include music, experimental Jazz, and Contemporary dance performances.

Title: Dead, but not yet, Gone

In the multiplicities of all that we are, who are we now? Breathing life into what could be described as “Dead, but not yet, Gone”, through intuitive movement connections and memories, this new work in progress is an exploration of my artistic practice, exploring a tapestry of memories, a bank of knowledge, on intuition with the use of live sound and projection. Contained in deconstruction and fragmentation, “Dead, but not yet, Gone”, amplifies experience, intention, and acceptance of time and the artistic process in life. Space, Breath, Soil, Words and Body are the root of this solo presentation.

Title: The Silent Pull

Have you ever wondered about silent pull? It symbolises the invisible forces that guide and influence us. At some point your body becomes a canvas for exploring the tension between control and release, a continuous play between being controlled by something and the decision to escape. The silent pull influences not only the physicality of the piece but also the internal state, shaping thoughts, emotions, and desires. It’s an intimate dialogue between control and surrender, where each step, gesture, and shift in gaze feels guided by an unspoken force. This creates a sense of anticipation, as though something is constantly on the verge of happening, but the outcome remains uncertain. The invisible tension becomes a palpable energy, offering a glimpse into the complexity of human experience – our desires, our fears, and the often fragile balance between freedom and restraint.

Title: The Crest

On Good Friday of March 27th, 1964, the World’s 2nd largest earthquake struck at 17:36 in South Central, Alaska. The earthquake endured 4.5 minutes and surmounted to a magnitude of 9.2. It triggered a tsunami that has remained a reflection of struggle, resilience, and our ability to overcome. Often, earthquakes and large waves ripple in and out of our lives. Some with currents so powerful they feel as if they might drag us under. We become drenched in the crashing of anxiety, fears, and approval of others, drowning out the sound of our true melodies. We find ourselves lost in a chaotic sea, feeling beaten by the unexpected shakes. We lose ourselves amongst an ever incoming tide. But then, we rise beyond the currents with reliance. We overcome and find our true melodies stronger from the storm. As we reflect, we stand tall in the following seas.
I would like to dedicate this piece in honuor of the lives lost in the Great Alaskan Earthquake and tsunami of 1964.

Different ages, countries, roots, everyday in motion. Situations in life in a woman’s body, movement in the 20th century. Possibilities in life, a desire, loyalty to the origin. Woman, a human being.

Title: Das Gedankenkarussell

Gedankenkarussell is a German word of which the direct translation is “carousel of thoughts”, and means an endless cycle of thoughts (translated from Dudenredaktion, n.d.) The Gedankenkarussell takes off. The same thoughts over and over again, circling around with no end in sight. It’s an infinite loop. Time passes, yet she’s moved nowhere. She remains on the same horse, to the same music under the same flashing lights in the Gedankenkarussell. Round and round and round she goes. And round passing the same things again and again and again. Is the world spinning around her, or is she the one circling in a still world? She perceives flashes and music around her—something speeds by, she sees it, and then it vanishes. Next round, the same flashes, the same music and then gone and gone. There’s no exit from the Gedankenkarussell mid-ride. And so, she remains on the same horse, to the same music under the same flashing lights, trapped in the Gedankenkarussell. When she finally steps off, she finds herself at a different point from where she got on. A new angle? A new orientation? A new chance? Yet the world outside remains unchanged, standing still even as it appears to turn. She sees that same horse, moving to the same music under the same flashing lights. It’s an infinite loop. She stands still, and yet she feels like turning, considering going on another ride.

Title: Heaven

Body as an object, body as a landscape, body without clothes. Soul and spirit that abandon a body. Unsexualized nudity. The pureness of the uncovered skin. Body among clouds, body suspended, polysemic body. The spiritual body, cosmic body, where is the place that everybody calls heaven?
